Enhanced safety
The Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate as its core material, known for its strong thermal stability, producing heat slowly, releasing it at a lower rate, and not releasing oxygen during reactions. Its distinctive long, flat cell design also enhances both cooling efficiency and preheating performance. In safety testing, the Blade Battery has successfully withstood the nail penetration test without producing fire or smoke, highlighting its high level of safety and reliability in BYD battery technology.
Nail Penetration Test
The nail penetration test is considered one of the most demanding methods for evaluating battery thermal runaway, as it replicates a severe internal short circuit scenario. This can occur in extreme collisions when sharp external objects pierce the battery structure. In this test, the Blade Battery demonstrated strong safety performance, showing no signs of fire or smoke. Even under these conditions, its surface temperature remained relatively controlled, reaching only around 30–60°C, reinforcing the safety standards of BYD battery technology.

Optimized Strength
Optimized for structural integrity, the cells are arranged in an array within the pack, where each cell functions like a structural beam to help absorb and distribute external forces. The aluminum honeycomb-inspired architecture, combined with high-strength panels on both the upper and lower sides of the pack, significantly improves vertical rigidity. This innovative design is what gives the Blade Battery its enhanced strength and durability within BYD battery systems.
Longer Range
